Canada Carbon Rebate Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria are important to get the benefits of the Carbon Tax Rebate. The benefits will be provided to beneficiaries who fulfill all conditions mentioned under the eligibility criteria. The following are the eligibility conditions for Canada Carbon Rebate:

  • Individuals are residents of Canada in the month before the rebate payment.
  • Applicants were residents of an applicable CCR province on the first day of the payment month:
    Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
  • Individuals should be at least 19 years old in the month before the CRA makes the payment Or,
  • Applicants are less than 19 years old and meet at least one of the following conditions:
    • They have or had a spouse or common-law partner.
    • They are or were a parent, and live(d) with the child.
  • If You Have Children:
    • The child is under 19 years of age
    • The child lives with the beneficiary
    • Applicants are primarily responsible for caring and upbringing of the child
    • The child must be registered for the CCR (or already registered for the CCB or GST/HST credit).

What are the payment dates of the Carbon Tax Rebate?
The authority will make the payment four times a year i.e., April 2024, July 2024, October 2024 and January 2025. Please note that the payment will be made on the 15th of the payment month. In case, the date lies on a weekend or holiday, the payment will be made on the previous business date.

What if the Canada Carbon Rebate Payment is not made on the scheduled date?
In case, any beneficiary does not get the payment on the scheduled date, they must wait for at least ten business days. If the payment still is not reflected in the beneficiaries’ account, they must call 1-800-387-1193.
